In the year of 1900 or 1901, while my parents lived at Fort Dodge, Iowa, they became somewhat acquainted with Christian Science. Just before we became interested, while I was going barefooted in the yard, I stepped on a piece of coal, which went into my foot. My mother tried to get it out but could not. Mother's friend told us that her neighbor was a Christian Scientist, who could help in such a case. Mother did not know whether to believe her or not for none of us had heard about Christian Science. Mother asked for a treatment for my foot. The Christian Scientist gave me one treatment; out came the piece of coal, and my foot was healed. Three years ago I had kidney and bowel troubles. I tried every medicine I could get but with no relief. I again went to the Christian Science practitioner and asked her for one treatment. She gave it to me and also some Christian Science literature which I had never read before. I not only had relief from my troubles but became more acquainted with and interested in Christian Science. A little over a year ago I went to the reading rooms and got all the Christian Science literature. I also attended the lectures which were given. My parents received a number of treatments and found relief. My parents and I are very thankful for Mrs. Eddy's discovery of Christian Science and for what it has done for us.—Henry H. Gottschalk, Stanwood, Iowa.
