It is more than six years since my family took up the study of Christian Science and I would like to express my gratitude for the many healings I have had and for the wonderful protection that has been afforded. The latter means as much to me as the healings.
Through reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was healed of stomach trouble with which I had suffered for thirty years, and of a disease which several physicians told me only an operation would cure,—a spinal trouble for which I had had homeopathic remedies and osteopathic treatments three times a week for months. Also, swollen joints, caused by chalky deposit, became normal. While the stomach trouble left me soon after beginning the study of our textbook, the others were a little slower, but all vanished without other help. With the help of a practitioner I was quickly healed of inflammatory rheumatism and influenza.
I feel that it would be ungrateful not to tell of a recent demonstration of protection. In taking from a high gas oven a shallow tin of smoking hot fat, the tin bent and deluged my thumb completely with the boiling grease, but I experienced no more unpleasant sensation than had it been cold water. This is but one of many experiences I have had of Love's protecting power, which to human sense seems supernatural, but Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (Pref. p. xi), "Now, as then, these mighty works are not supernatural, but supremely natural."
