It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I send my testimony...
It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I send my testimony of a complete healing of inflammatory rheumatism in its worst form, through Christian Science. In the spring of 1914, my joints became swollen, causing much pain and distress. As Christian Science has been the only physician in our home for years, we asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner. I was suffering also with weakness, chills, fever, and inaction of the heart, bowels, and kidneys, and was becoming very much alarmed. The practitioner came to see me on the eighth day of June and found me helpless. After a few minutes' treatment I experienced a beautiful, painless rest, such as I had not known for days, and I knew God was my strength and my salvation, in whom I put my trust.
The pain and inflammation disappeared before the bowels and kidneys became active and as concern was expressed about those organs, the practitioner assured me that this claim would be met, as God was neither limited nor bound, but filled all space. The truth being realized, I was also freed from this discord in a few hours and in one week after the practitioner started treatments I got up and walked. I received treatments for nine days, when the healing was realized. I went to the door on the tenth day to meet a neighbor who was not a Christian Scientist and had said, "If they do not get a physician she will not last long;" also my neighbors had warned me against eating rich food, as they said it would surely cause a relapse. I ate anything I wanted without fear, as I knew that, as Mrs. Eddy says, "neither disease itself, sin, nor fear has the power to cause disease or a relapse" (Science and Health, p. 419). I was out in cold rains that autumn and have proved again that "cause does not exist in matter, in mortal mind, or in physical forms" (Science and Health, p. 262). I have had no return or any effect of the rheumatism, and walked three blocks and upstairs to the morning service, the first Sunday that July. As Mrs. Eddy says, "Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger" (Science and Health, p. 410).
We have had other demonstrations too numerous to mention, among which are the healing of colds, fever, whooping cough, measles, and scarlet fever. Mumps were entirely overcome in about an hour, and a growth on my face of about two years' standing disappeared in a few days under Christian Science treatment. For all these blessings and many others, I am very thankful to God and to Mrs. Eddy for showing us the way to the healing truth.
