To-day while reading a certain testimony in the Sentinel,...
To-day while reading a certain testimony in the Sentinel, I was so filled with gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me that I was impelled to stop reading long enough to write my first testimony.
Like many others, I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing alone, but with the desire to gain a fuller and higher understanding of God and man's relation to Him. From early childhood I was a member of a denominational church, but I was not satisfied with this and withdrew with the conviction that there was something about Christianity that I did not fully understand. I read the Bible at home, but its chapters seemed so conflicting that little understanding was gained. The promise that gave me the most courage was, "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled."
Later when I was suffering from proud flesh in both big toes, Christian Science was presented to me by a very dear friend and I eagerly listened to the beautiful words of Truth. That very night I threw away my medicine and retired pondering the wonderful things I had heard, with the result that while dressing the next morning I found my toes perfectly healed. I have been healed of skin disease, scarlet fever, scalds, and other minor ailments. Our children have never tasted medicine and have never had any so-called diseases. Through the help of a loving and faithful practitioner one of our sons has been healed of double compound rupture. It has been proved that Christian Science is preventive preventive as well as a curative. When I myself had scarlet fever I cared for the twins and neither one of them got it. They also without any ill effect played with a child who had just started with whooping cough.
