I sincerely hope that this testimony will help some seeker after health and happiness, as other testimonies helped me when I was in need of a better understanding of God. In the winter of 1903-4 I was overtaken with a severe cold, which affected the lungs. After trying all the prescribed remedies in drug stores, I went to the best specialists in the country, who pronounced the case lung and bronchial trouble. I tried electric, allopathic, and homeopathic treatment; in fact, tried prescriptions from ten physicians, without any apparent improvement. Through the recommendation of our family doctor I started to the Rocky Mountains in Idaho with the hope of gaining health in a higher elevation. On my trip to Chicago I met an old friend, who asked me to try Christian Science for healing, saying it was not necessary to go west to find health; but having a false concept of what Christian Science teaches I did not accept the kind offer.

I found the high altitude in the Rocky Mountains had no healing effect, and instead of getting better I grew worse and had to be taken to the valley below. I was again asked to try Christian Science, which I did humbly. After the second day's treatment I began to improve, and within three weeks returned to my work in the East. In addition to this healing I have received much help with various problems since. I have been healed of profanity and the smoking, chewing, and liquor habits; also of catarrh, hemorrhiods, mountain fever, grippe, and other ills "that flesh is heir to." Christian Science has been the only reliance in our home for fifteen years and has proved that it never fails when properly applied. Our three children have never taken medicine, and have never missed one minute of school.

I am indeed grateful for class instruction, and to those who have so kindly helped me in time of seeming darkness, leading me step by step to a better understanding of God and man. I am deeply thankful to God for having led me to the truth, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her devoted and patient life, and for what she has done for humanity.
