Hundreds of years ago there sat at the gate called Beautiful a man lame from birth. As Peter and John were about to enter the temple, he expected alms, but Peter said to him: "Look on us ... Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk;" and the narrative continues, "And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediarely his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he ... entered with them into the temple, waling, and leaping, and praising God." As Peter demonstrated the truth then, so it is demonstrated to-day.
Our second child was born with the bones of her legs and ankles malformed, the ankles being so turned that the soles of the feet were toward each other. Until she was about fifteen months old she had never attempted to stand. Having become interested in Christian Science for healing for myself, which was manifest after treatments were given, I had confidence that our baby could be healed without surgical help, which we had been urged to have. Soon after treatment began, with great delight she stood; then one morning about six weeks later she walked across the room to us, while we were reading the Lesson-Sermon aloud. It was a moment of great joy and gratitude. she is now six years old; her development has been normal, and no one who sees her would think that the condition described had ever existed.
When we recall this healing and many others we feel that the truest way to show our gratitude is to try daily to seek first the kingdom of God.
