Some
of those who have not carefully investigated Christian Science seem sometimes to get the impression that the healing which comes through its ministrations is the result of action of the human mind in some form.
Were
the thoughtful individual called upon to tell what it is he is most in search of, he would readily admit that it is peace and happiness, which to a Christian Scientist means the truth.
The faculty of hope is so common to the human race and has been so generally commended as one of humanity's saving graces, that it comes with a touch of surprise to find that this sentiment, as much as any other human concept, needs to be healed; or, more exactly, to be replaced with a scientific expectation, which performs its function without betrayal.
In a recent issue a reference is made to Christian Science in the article, "Talks on Health, by a Family Doctor," in which the author is represented as saying, "Do not wait to be cured by the suggestive powers of Christian Science or mesmerism.
The report of the case of a child of a Christian Science practitioner having attended school while broken out with smallpox has received so much publicity that one naturally wonders if this is the only child that has gone out in public while affected with what the health officer might call contagion.
The
writer of the one hundred and seventh psalm observed the providential care of God over wanderers and captives, those in sickness and those driven by storm at sea.

I sincerely hope that this testimony will help some seeker after health and happiness, as other testimonies helped me when I was in need of a better understanding of God.

It is almost sixteen years since I first began studying Science and Health, and the wonderful spiritual uplift that I received has steadily increased as the years have gone by.
Six years ago a rupture caused me so much trouble and pain that, as I did not like the idea of an operation, and as Christian Science had done so much for my wife, I decided to try it.
It is with a great deal of real happiness that I can truly say I know that God is ever present and that all wrong conditions can be overcome by the understanding of Principle as taught in Christian Science.
