Christian Science came to my knowledge two years before I would accept it, as I had only criticism for a religion I did not understand. I had worked for many years with some of the best medical and orthopedic physicians of New York city and was giving medical gymnastics to little crippled children. At the end of each year's strenuous work I would have a serious and painful attack of rheumatism, which would keep me confined to my bed several months, with several months more spent in recovering from the effect of the drugs administered with kind intent by the doctors.

My extremity was God's opportunity. When the last attack came, drugs were resorted to, but as there were no results this time, and I wanted to get away from that bed of pain, I turned to Christian Science. I had to learn that my thought must change; that one cannot serve two masters. To gain understanding of the Principle and rule of healing, the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, together with the Bible, was begun in earnest. Before this time the Bible was dull and uninteresting to me. Through the regular and faithful study of these books, and the help of a practitioner, the healing came. That was over four years ago, and there has been no return of the trouble. Needless to say I gave up the work I had been doing, as the two methods did not go together, and have learned to know that God supplies all good. My healing was slow, but with it came this priceless spiritual education for which words cannot express my gratitude. I am thankful to God and grateful to our dear Leader, who has made known to this age the Principle and rule of healing.—(Mrs.) Alice Smith, New York, N. Y.
