It is indeed gratifying to find your interesting paper among the increasing number of journals protesting against the antichristian action of forcibly closing the churches because of the fear of epidemic. Such a closing order is certainly antichristian, for it is a frank avowal of the gross materialism which has engulfed many, so that they no longer believe the words of Isaiah, "Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear." It was this same grossly materialistic tendency which stole into the Christian church in the third century and devitalized its preaching and practice, which up to that time had embraced the healing of the sick as well as the reforming of the sinner, even as Christ Jesus directed.
