Christian Science has proved itself to me as the Comforter

Christian Science has proved itself to me as the Comforter. Over sixteen years ago, at a time of bereavement, I consulted a practitioner who told me that it was a sin to long to die when God is our Life. For six months or more I attended services quite regularly, tried to study the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," read Mrs. Eddy's other writings and the periodicals, but still seemed very nervous. Finally I saw the nothingness of this false sense, nervousness, brought on through the mesmeric thought of sorrow. The reference, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord," lifted me out of this sense-dream to newness of life. I studied our text-book preparatory to taking class instruction, united with the branch church I was attending, and had the great privilege of becoming a member of The Mother Church.

Can I ever be grateful enough for this teaching given us through our revered Leader, and for the knowledge that God, Life, our heavenly Father, is Mother as well. I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy, also bear in mind her staunch pioneer coworkers; but above all "my soul doth magnify the Lord" for His goodness.—(Miss) Christina Elizabeth Pfeiffer, St. Petersburg, Fla.
