Impelled by a sense of gratitude and the hope that it may be helpful to others, I give this testimony in recognition of the power of Truth and Love to heal and bless. On November 5, 1916, following a strenuous two months' care of my sister's children, aged respectively three and six years, through a siege of typhoid fever, during most of which time the younger was alarmingly ill, I, too, succumbed to the disease. I am convinced I would never have survived medical treatment, for I did not have the vitality to withstand the ravages of the disease, with which I was fully conversant, being a trained nurse. My last conscious request and stand was for Christian Science treatment, and I entertained not a doubt or fear of the outcome. The practitioner, many miles away, was written to and also asked to send a Christian Science nurse to care for me. In compliance with material laws a doctor was called to diagnose the case, and unhesitatingly pronounced the ailment typhoid fever. I ate almost nothing for four or five weeks, but was given whatever I thought I might relish. While for a time I was so ill that my passing on seemed imminent, yet on the sixteenth day I was able to rise, walk the length of three large rooms to the bathroom, have a warm bath, and walk back again. The next day I sat out on the porch for some time, and in that same week I took the train, in company with my nurse, for Berkeley, a distance of about one hundred and forty miles. For at least two weeks after my arrival I was too weak to write a legible hand; then followed an exceedingly sore and painful condition of my leg, but this also was overcome. Abscess in the ear, with subsequent deafness, and chronic bowel trouble were also overcome. I am now and have been for some time enjoying health, and have regained my normal weight.

I have received immeasurable benefits, mental as well as physical, through the study of Christian Science, and my prayer is that I may grow in grace and a knowledge of the truth until I become a worker to toil in God's vineyard. I am most grateful for the daily manna provided in the study of the Bible and our periodicals, and to Mrs. Eddy, whose consecrated life has made this blessing available to us.—(Miss) Myra E. Hopkins, Berkeley, Cal.
