Matthew
tells us that at the time of the Passover Jesus went into the temple, where he saw various conditions which were letting the things of this world keep out of consciousness the spiritual things.
Although
the teachings of the Bible make it abundantly clear that as a man "thinketh in his heart, so is he," the materialism of both medicine and scholastic theology so darkened and perverted the view of mankind that the metaphysical and true sense of all things was practically lost for centuries.
He
is a wise man who has learned the importance of listening with ears attuned to the harmonies of the divine Mind, and such a one only can claim to have ears that hear, or to have learned his new name in Christian Science.
The
good which may be done by a few lovingly spoken words, commonplace in themselves perhaps, was forcibly brought home to the writer in the following way.
In an article headed, "Explaining National Blindness," copied from the New York Times, many strange statements were made, among them one pertaining to Christian Science.
The evangelist whose remarks appeared in part in the Reporter, contends that Christian Science is inconsistent with the Bible and has its source elsewhere than in the Scripture.
There
can be no question that the love of life comes to us consciously and unconsciously from our earliest hours; and this is right, for despite the many human misconceptions of life, man's life can only be truly known as the gift of God; indeed Christian Science makes it clear that God is man's Life, and that man lives truly only as he reflects the divine Life.

Impelled by a sense of gratitude and the hope that it may be helpful to others, I give this testimony in recognition of the power of Truth and Love to heal and bless.
In November, 1913, I was told by the physician who had operated on me nine months before that I would have to undergo another operation and then rest for three months.
All I have and all I am I owe to Christian Science, and having received so much comfort from the testimonies given in our periodicals and at the Wednesday evening meetings, I would like to tell my experience in gratitude for what this healing truth has done for me.
