Among the Churches

Daytona, Fla.—Dedicatory services were conducted this morning [March 31] in the Christian Science church at Live Oak and Palmetta Avenues, payment on which has just been completed. The building has been in use since the first of last year. The edifice and furnishings have cost approximately seventeen thousand dollars. The auditorium proper is furnished with opera charis, and can seat about five hundred.

Christian Science was first introduced in Daytona in October, 1898, when a devout Christian woman who had been a semi-invalid for many years was healed through reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. A few months later, services were first held in a private home, and in 1903 a hall on Beach Street was secured to accommodate the increased attendance. On January 6, 1911, Christian Science Society of Daytona was organized, and the Palmetto Clubhouse was secured in which to hold services. During the winter of 1915 the lot upon which the church stands was purchased and paid for. In the spring of 1916 plans were obtained and the contract was let for the building. The corner stone was laid on July 10, 1916, and the completed structure was ready for occupancy at the close of the year. On January 5, 1917, First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Daytona, Florida, was organized and immediately began to hold services in this beautiful church home.—The Daytona Journal.

Liberty, Mo.—A service dedicating the church building was held April 14.
