In a recent issue, in reporting the activities of the Training Camp for Young Christians, established by St. James Church, notice is given of a meeting to be held at which there will be a discussion of "Christian Science and Other Modern Aberrations." The propriety of so characterizing a religious denomination which has done and is doing so much to stimulate real Christian activity in healing and saving mankind from its self-imposed sin, disease, and woe, might well be questioned. The real issue is this: To what extent have our critics taken up the real discipleship of the Master? Have they obeyed to the letter his injunction to heal the sick and cleanse the leper? Have they brought forth the "signs" which he declared should "follow them that believe"? If so, then their works will justify them. It is just this healing and saving work that Christian Science is doing in the world; and no amount of condemnation or fine contempt will undo it. "I will shew thee my faith by my works," is the watchword of every earnest Christian Scientist, for he perfectly well knows that "faith without works is dead."

One must be quite sure of his ground before presuming to tear down that faith in God and His Christ which many earnest men and women are finding the sure way to salvation. On page 104 of "Miscellaneous Writings," Mrs. Eddy says, "In obedience to the divine nature, man's individuality reflects the divine law and order of being. How shall we reach our true selves? Through Love. The Principle of Christian Science is Love, and its idea represents Love. This divine Principle and idea are demonstrated, in healing, to be God and the real man."
