With a deep sense of gratitude I give this testimony of what Christian Science has done for me. It is about two years since I came into the true, spiritual understanding of Christian Science, and was healed of neuritis, chronic bowel disorder, bronchial trouble, and nervous breakdown, with absolute loss of courage. One day, while I was sitting in my room wondering what I could do, the thought came to me, Why not dispense with all material remedies and go to reading a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which had been laid away for several years. I at once got the book and began to read it, with the result that there was immediate relief, and in a few weeks I was a perfectly well, happy woman.
I wish I could find words to tell just what the true understanding of Christian Science has meant to me, and the joy of being perfectly well and able to work again. I had thought that I could never again do the work which I had been doing. For thirty years I had been constantly trying to please the public and felt that I had given all my strength in doing so; and to find that strength renewed and that I was just as able to work as ever was wonderful. I cannot be grateful enough for this healing and for the spiritual uplift which came with this realization of the truth that makes free, and for the happiness that comes each day from knowing how to do something for the Master.
I thank God with all my heart and am grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that she made it possible for us to have the understanding of this beautiful truth and apply it to all our needs. I am so grateful for the help received from our Sentinel and Journal and for the helpful testimonies given at our Wednesday evening meetings. Words cannot express the joy which comes to me in being able to help others out of the belief of inharmony and sickness. I feel that I cannot be thankful enough for this beautiful religion which makes happiness and freedom for all mankind.—Miss Alice L. Manatt, Grinnell, Iowa.
