It is with deep joy and heartfelt gratitude that I give thanks for all Christian Science has done for me and mine. For years an unwilling victim of the false appetite for strong drink, and a slave to the use of tobacco in different forms, I had resorted to famous "cures," attended private sanatoriums, used all the will power at my command, and had so-called home treatments for the cure of the liquor habit, but to no avail. With the failure of material means my plight seemed desperate. I was indeed like one "having no hope, and without God in the world;" however, I was a worshiper at the shrine of material medicine.

In this extremity Christian Science came, bringing light and a sure and quick deliverance, besides almost simultaneous healing of many bodily ills,—an unhealed sore of years' standing, constitutional liver and spleen trouble, rheumatism, catarrh, and a complication of malarial fever and sewer-gas poisoning contracted in early youth. As chaff before the flames, these and other discords vanished under "the fervent heat of Truth and Love" (Science and Health, p. 565), leaving me as one purified. Medicine I have not touched for many years.

Truly I can sing with the psalmist: "I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up,...thou hast healed me. O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave."
