While I was driving from the barn to the house in...
While I was driving from the barn to the house in November, 1914, my horse turned suddenly and started to run. The buggy was overturned, and as I fell out one hip struck on the hub. I was carried into the house on a cot, and a Christian Science practitioner who had been called came soon afterward. One of the leading physicians of our city was called in to see if there were any broken bones, and although he did not find any, he did not think I could get well. He said that if I did recover I would be a cripple. The practitioner came every day and I had a Christian Science nurse. In two weeks I was able to sit on the edge of the bed with my feet on the floor, and before Christmas I was walking about the house unaided. I am as thoroughly healed as if there never had been an accident; am stronger, weigh more, and am in much better health than before it happened.
During the years I have known of Christian Science I have had no other help in times of sickness, accident, and sorrow; and it has never failed to do all that is claimed for it. I could not begin to tell of the peace and joy that have come to me and to my two children through Mrs. Eddy's wonderful works. All I can say in thankfulness and praise but mildly expresses my deep gratitude to Mrs. Eddy and to the loving friends who have helped me along the way.
Edith M. Hughes, San Bernardino, Cal.
