I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science. Many years ago I had a great sorrow,—my only boy was run over and killed instantly in front of our house. Friends told me that he was too good for this world, and that God had taken him from me to make me a better woman. In the face of such a statement from professing Christians it was hardly to be supposed that I could turn to God for help and comfort in my affliction; so I nursed my trouble and fretted over my loss till nervous breakdown set in, accompanied by terrible mental depression.

For eleven years I was a patient at hospitals, sometimes getting relief, but not for long, and wishing myself dead. About two years ago, through the advice of a friend, herself a Christian Scientist, I began the study of Christian Science. Since that time I have had no recourse to hospitals, doctors, or medicine of any kind. The healing has been slow and there are still some problems to be worked out, but if at times discouragement begins to assail me, I think of what I was and what I am, and know that if I am faithful to my trust all will be well.

The Bible is an endless source of comfort, and has opened up for me a new world of which I was ignorant before. The Christian Science literature is also a great help, and for this and all the other blessings received through Christian Science I cannot be too grateful. Day by day I am experiencing the goodness of God in every phase of life.—Mrs. E. Lawless, London, England.
