I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me, in the hope that my experience may be of help to some one who is as hungry for the truth as I was. My first healing was that of a severe stomach trouble, for which some of the best medical doctors had been employed. In one Christian Science treatment this condition was permanently overcome through the understanding and application of the truth by a dear friend.
Though I was grateful for the physical relief, I was not ready to give up the many false beliefs which I thought were necessary to my welfare, so I began seeking for the light in orthodox churches, but did not find the peace for which I was longing. After several years I attended the Wednesday evening testimony meetings, and though I thought how beautiful such a life must be and how happy every one seemed who understood Christian Science, I still thought it was not for me. Then came a summer of sorrow and sickness, when the way seemed dark indeed.
At this time one came into the home who though not a Christian Scientist herself had many friends that were, and who asked me to see a practitioner. I did so, and during our conversation was told that God, who is Love, does not give sickness and sorrow to His children, but health and peace. This was the ray of light that penetrated the darkness, for I had always thought that God had sent my sickness and had taken away those I loved. My healing was slow, but through the loving help of the practitioner I was led to see myself as a child of God and to claim my birthright; then, it is needless to say, my healing was complete.
