The Lectures

Butte, Mont. (First Church).—Virgil O. Strickler lecturer; introduced by J. B. Patterson, who said in part:—

The world as a rule is skeptical of anything new, whether in science, politics, or religion. Christian Science is nothing new, nor do its followers claim it to be. As a matter of fact its teachings are as old as time itself and were taught and practised by Jesus and his disciples. Mrs. Eddy, however, in 1866 discovered the Principle upon which true healing is based and named her discovery Christian Science, and in turn gave it to the world that it might cheer, bless, purify, and heal. The results speak for themselves, as tens of thousands willingly testify to the efficacy of Christian Science in reforming the sinner, in giving comfort to the sorrowing, and in healing the sick.

There are probably no people who believe more thoroughly in the Bible or who spend more time in reading it than do Christian Scientists. The study and practice of Christian Science makes for better citizenship, makes the human family happier and more contented; and why should they be otherwise than joyful when they realize that God can be depended upon to help them in every extremity?
