Gratitude prompts me to submit my testimony of much good derived from Christian Science, hoping the benefits obtained by me may bring light to others seeking it. After resorting to medicine for years, I turned to Christian Science ten years ago for relief from a difficulty which some doctors said was organic, while others called it functional. A specialist advised an operation, but as he could not promise a cure I decided to try everything else first.

I had become thoroughly disheartened, for I feared that I would never be well. Then a friend spoke to me of Christian Science, telling me of remarkable cases of healing by means of the application of its teachings. I knew nothing of it, but was willing to give it a trail, just as I would try any other remedy that might be recommended. After a week's treatment I was healed, but it took many years of earnest study to gain complete mastery over fear and to erase the mental picture of the years of suffering.

I am glad it was necessary for me to do my own Science work, for it forced me to overcome many erroneous thoughts, such as hate, fear, doubt, resentment,—the last especially holding me in bondage through an extended period,—until they were finally conquered. I have found that only in proportion as these have been given up have I found freedom and peace. For six years I had worn glasses constantly, and had been told they would always be necessary; but they were laid aside almost ten years ago without any inconvenience or strain.
