This testimony is given with a sense of deep gratitude for the blessings received through Christian Science. This religion was presented to me as a means of helping a dear relative, but I rejected it, for while I thought that it was a beautiful teachings, I was unwilling to leave my old church, which I loved. Some time later I went through very sad experiences, and while in a state of utter discouragement and depression I was again approached with Christian Science by the same dear acquaintance. This time I saw the good that was coming.
I attended the meetings and began to study Science and Health in English, which at that time was the only way possible. I tried my best to make headway, out of love for the relative, who could do nothing for himself as he was in a sanitarium. I never thought of myself, although I was ailing considerably and there were faults to be eradicated, but as a result of my honest endeavor and selfless love the troubles almost all dropped away from me. How great was my joy whenever I attained to a clearer realization of Science! This joy, together with gratitude, makes everything so bright and beautiful, and helps us to go onward even in the darkest hours.
Through the reading of our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I have been healed of neurasthenia, of stone in the kidneys, of bowel complaint of years' standing, and of severe attacks of illness to which I used to be subject every winter and which I dreaded. Since I have had Christian Science I have known no sick-bed. Whenever an error has tried to assert itself, I have always been able to overcome it through the understanding of the perfect nature of God's creation and of its inseparable unity with the divine Principle of good.
