So much good has come to me through the Christian Science...
So much good has come to me through the Christian Science periodicals that I desire to give my testimony, hoping in this way to scatter farther the seeds of hope, joy, and courage. Several years ago, on a Wednesday morning, my daughter and I were engaged in some mirthful exercises when she accidentally scraped my eyeball with her finger nail, causing great pain. I declared the truth as revealed through the teaching of Christian Science and tried to attend to some morning duties, but the pain became so severe that in less than half an hour I had to retire to a darkened room. The eye was swollen and inflamed, and I was unable to read, but I clung firmly to the truth that had on many other occasions proved sufficient to meet my every need.
The error which tried all that day to gain a place in my consciousness was that I would not be able to go to church that night and perform my duty as first reader, but I met the suggestion every time with the truth that I could do anything that was right and good for me to do, and thus fear and discouragement were kept out. About six o'clock that evening a lady who lived next door came in, and on seeing me immediately asked what was the trouble. After being told she remarked that a brother had an eye injured in the same manner, and partial blindness resulted. I however had no fear of such results, for Christ Jesus the Wayshower said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," and after a few moments of silent prayer I found myself free,—free from pain, inflammation, scars, or blindness. I went to church that evening and performed my duties without any inconvenience. My eye is as natural and good in every respect as before.
I cannot find words with which to express my thankfulness to God for such deliverance and healing, and my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for making the way so plain that none need err therein.
