In October, 1915, I arrived in this country with my husband, feeling very homesick and lonesome and knowing not one word of English; but divine Love guided us to the house of a Christian Science family, where we were told about this religion with its wonderful healing power. On Thanksgiving day we attended our first Christian Science service and were much impressed, so started to study the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. As my health was very poor, I asked for help from my new friend, who was a practitioner. It was much work for her to make me understand what I needed to know, but the declaring of the one Mind brought my first demonstration. I learned the language easily and only by means of studying Science and Health.
From this time on I had blessing after blessing. The homesickness left me, and I was healed of severe headaches, a general nervous condition, and colds. These wonderful demonstrations encouraged me to tell my friend about another trouble, as I had some hope that it would be possible to heal this too. Before I left Switzerland I had lost the greater part of my wonderful hair. I tried everything possible ordered by different doctors, and had electrical applications, but all was without results,—the rest of the hair was falling out very rapidly and I had to wear a wig. The afternoon I told my friend about this, she gave me a treatment and told me to be sure that nothing can be lost, that God's idea is complete. The result of the Christian Science treatment was really surprising, wonderful. It was in January, 1916, that treatment was started, and in August the new hair was about ten inches long and quite thick. It was truly a wonderful demonstration, and I know that what God doeth is done forever.
I am most thankful for all these blessings which have come to me through Christian Science. I thank God for the life and teaching of our Master, Christ Jesus, and for Mrs. Eddy's loving work in revealing through our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," this wonderful Christ-teaching to this age.
