The Lectures

Marquette, Mich. (First Church).—William R. Rathvon, lecturer; introduced by J. M. Longyear, who said in part:—

In these strenuous times it is well to consider the signboard at the railway crossing which reads, "Stop, Look, Listen." The world is asking, Has civilization collapsed? Has Christianity failed? Is there a Christian civilization? If so, what is it? Are there any Christians, and where are they? I am optimist enough to believe that great good is coming to humanity after all the turmoil and strife which causes mankind to ask these questions, and I believe that the lecturer this evening will tell us of a real, practical Christianity which may be used by all and for all mankind, on which may be built a permanent peace and a lasting civilization.—The Mining Journal.
