Among the Churches

Current Notes

Nevada. —Much of the increased friendliness of the Nevada newspapers toward Christian Science during the year from Nov. 1, 1915, to Oct. 31, 1916, has been due to The Christian Science Monitor. Wherever the Monitor has been regularly exchanged with or occasionally sent to the local editors, many items have been reprinted, often with kindly comments. More than sixty such items have been reprinted during the year in more than fifteen of the few Nevada papers. During the preceding year the number of items so reprinted was only nineteen. Many of the newspapers, moreover, have obtained material and inspiration for editorials and special articles from the Monitor. In this way the influence of this paper for good is constantly broadening in Nevada. All the distribution of authorized Christian Science literature, in fact, is helping in the healing work by enlarging the thought of the community, including that of the Christian Scientists themselves.

There have been 2801 letters received and sent during the year, and Christian Science literature has been distributed in the following amounts: 6295 Sentinels, 859 Journals, 119 Herolds, 29,990 Monitors, 1148 lectures, 711 pamphlets, and 624 miscellaneous pieces, making a sum total of 39,746.
