Several years ago I was taken ill with acute lung trouble and complications, which developed into a serious stage of tuberculosis. The left shoulder and hip became deformed, my voice grew faint, and the condition was so offensive that it was impossible to have any one around except when absolutely necessary. Little did I think of trying God's power ; I wanted something that could be tasted, handled, seen. Two physicians treated me, and finally a specialist from another city was called in, but they only sentenced me to pass on within a few days.
Christian Science was then mentioned to my father and he began at once to investigate the subject. By consulting a Christian Science practitioner he soon found out that it is God who doeth the works. I began to take treatment and started to improve right away. By standing fast by the truth I had learned about God, and realizing that it was true, we were all enabled to see the salvation of the Lord. I was freed from all these conditions, and am now a witness to that truth which Jesus said would make free. Not only am I grateful for this healing, but for other daily proofs of God's power, and of His ever-present help in trouble if we only follow the Scriptural injunction, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart ; and lean not unto thine own understanding."—Ruby Wilkerson, Shelbyville, Ky.
