Christian Science was brought to me about nine years ago, and at that time, although I knew nothing about this teaching, I was healed in seven treatments of a trouble for which three physicians had told me an operation was the only remedy ; yet I did not become an earnest student of Christian Science until three years ago. Having been brought up in another church and having sisters who were married to ministers, I was slow in leaving the old church, until I found I could not serve two masters. In the past three years divine Truth has been my only physician, and never fails if its rules are applied rightly.

Some time ago, while living in Louisiana, I was taken with pain in the back. I could not stand up straight, and the first thought that came to me was that I was not near a practitioner. I worked faithfully, however, and a friend, the only one near who was interested in Science, helped me to know the truth. That same day I was free from pain, and on the following day was able to take a boat ride.

I am always glad to get the Sentinel and the Journal, and whereas the Bible was formerly a closed book, now, together with Science and Health, it has become my daily bread. I am not a member of the Christian Science church, but am trying to live so as to be worthy to be called a Christian Scientist. I am grateful for the physical healing, but much more so for the spiritual uplift ; indeed, words cannot express my gratitude.—Bertha L. De Guines, St. Louis, Mo.
