Christian Science came into my life through the healing...
Christian Science came into my life through the healing of my voice. I was about to give a recital of twenty-one numbers, when at five o'clock on the day of the concert my voice became very hoarse and seemed about to leave me altogether. As the recital was to be given in my home city the hall was sold out, so to find myself in this dilemma, quite unfit for the evening's work, made me sick at heart. I thought of going at once to a throat specialist, but remembering that doctors had never in the past been able to help me in any hour of need such as this, I gave up the notion entirely, with the feeling that no earthly power could help me.
That "man's extremity is God's opportunity" was clearly shown to me at this point, for on the recommendation of a friend I had treatment from a Christian Science practitioner, who was in a position to know that man's voice is in reality a manifestation of divine perfection and harmony. The result was that when I stepped out on the stage I experienced a glorious sense of freedom, my voice flowed forth with a marked ease, and the farther I went with my program the easier the task became. It was a beautiful experience, one that will not soon be forgotten. Instead of the expected night of hoarseness, fatigue, and limitation, came the dawn of happiness and success.
Since that time, eight years ago, I have been wonderfully helped on many such occasions by the great, never-failing Physician, of whom we learn in Christian Science. I am sure Truth will never fail me in the hour of need if I have faith even as "a grain of mustard seed." I am thankful for the opportunity to spread the glad tidings of what the knowledge of God, as understood in Christian Science, will do for all mankind.—George Dixon, Toronto, Canada.
