[Written for the Sentinel]

Truth's Dawn

A wondrous calm! A lifted sense!
The darkness flees and cometh day,
And error's storm-clouds pass away:
Behold Love's holy immanence!

A precious hope now doth unfold:

E'en as the sun on morning bright,
Truth fills the heart with gladdening light,
Dispersing earthly shadows cold,

And to the lonely heart the sweet
Companionship of Love doth bring;
The sorrowing arise and sing,
The impotent leap to their feet.

The world awakens from its sleep
And draws aside earth's blinding screen;
The universe of Mind is seen,
While Love its watchful guard doth keep.
