As a grateful recipient of many blessings from Christian Science,...

As a grateful recipient of many blessings from Christian Science, I feel it my duty and pleasure to relate the following experience. About three years ago, while spending the night at the home of a friend, I attempted to reach the bathroom through a dimly lighted hall, but mistook the opening of the stairway for the bathroom door, and fell down the stairs, stirking my head on the fourth step from the bottom. There my hostess, who was the only other adult in the house, found me. I heard her say: "Do not be afraid; you are not hurt. God is Love. God is right here." The power of God was soon manifested in my being able to get into a sitting position at the foot of the stairs, while my friend telephoned to a practitioner who lived near by. It was midnight, but the practitioner said she would come immediately. Meanwhile I felt a desire to return to my room, and "leaning on the sustaining infinite" (Science and Health, Pref., p. vii), I went up-stairs a few minutes before the practitioner arrived.

There was a deep gash over one eye, from which there was a great loss of blood; also a painful wrench in the wrist; but the pain was overcome by the loving work of the practitioner. I was made comfortable for sleep, and after awaking at the usual time much refreshed, I enjoyed my breakfast sitting up in a chair. My healing was rapid and thorough, and to mortal sense seemed the more remarkable because of my age (I was in my ninety-second year). I am now in excellent health, go up and down stairs several times each day, and enjoy a sense of freedom and happiness which is due to Christian Science.

I indeed owe a great debt of gratitude to the teachings of our Leader, who explored the path and lovingly showed us the way to know and to use the loving power of God.
