Among the Churches

Current Notes

VALDEZ, ALASKA.—Prof. Hermann S. Hering lectured in Eagle Hall under the auspices of the Christian Science Society on Thursday evening, July 13. There were two hundred and four persons present, and this we feel, out of a population of seven hundred and fifty, is a good percentage. The audience was attentive during the entire lecture and seemed interested and appreciative. At the close of the lecture we distributed 109 Sentinels, 21 Journals, and 16 Monitors. We feel that much good seed has been sown and know that interest in our cause will grow.—Correspondence.

TRINIDAD, Col.—The latest building improvement to be made in the city of Trinidad started with the breaking of ground for the new church edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, this morning [July 29]. It is the plan of the local church to erect a building which with furnishings and heating plant will cost about ten thousand dollars, and it is expected that the church will be ready for occupancy by Nov. 15.
