In the early part of September, 1910, my little daughter...

In the early part of September, 1910, my little daughter developed symptoms of incipient typhoid fever, and within ten days the disorder had assumed a grave aspect. I had lost all faith in materia medica and so knew that I could not look to it for help in this crisis. Having been led to investigate Christian Science some years before, I had been gradually leaning upon Truth in many trials, so I now turned to it with all my heart. A practitioner was asked to treat the child, and as a result she was fully restored to health and able to reenter school the second month of the term, thirty days covering the entire time of her illness; while some children in the neighborhood, ill with the same malady and under the care of a physician, were not able to go to school until after Christmas.

Christian Science came to me when my heart was torn by a mistaken sense of filial love and a struggle with bitter hatred and resentment, but through the study of the Bible and our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I have learned somewhat the meaning of the words "love," "brother," and "neighbor." Christian Science has healed my thought of its wound, and it is today the greatest blessing of my life. I am thankful to God for our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who taught us to know that God is an ever present help in every time of need.
