I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done in curing an abnormal growth on my little daughter's head. While brushing her hair one morning I noticed a small swelling just over the forehead, extending slightly back into the hair. The nurse who inspects the children at school noticed this condition and was very much alarmed. She told the child to tell me to take her to a physician at once, but instead of doing this I took her to a Christian Science practitioner.
In about two weeks the nurse again inspected the children, and when she came to my daughter and saw that the swelling was larger and quite inflamed, she asked the child if I had taken her to a doctor for treatment. My daughter answered, "No, my mamma is a Christian Scientist, and Science will take care of me." The nurse brought her home and told me I must take her at once to a physician, as she had an abnormal growth which was liable to grow inward and prove serious if not attended to. She said: "Your little girl tells me you are a Christian Scientist and prefer that method of treatment. It is all right for nervous diseases, but Christian Science cannot cure any thing serious like this." I did not discuss the matter with her but said that the trouble would be taken care of.
I then took the child to a Christian Science practitioner, to whom I related what the nurse had said, and being assured that the child would be healed, we were content to trust her to the care of divine Love. With our daily reading of the Lesson-Sermon from the Quarterly and the aid of the practitioner, the child was healed in four weeks. After the swelling had disappeared there was a smooth bald spot which was quite noticeable and attracted considerable attention, many people insisting that the place would always be bald; but the practitioner assured us that this would also be overcome, and we are grateful to say that the hair is now growing as thickly as before on the spot that was bald.
