From the time that I was two years old until I went to a Christian Science practitioner for help, I cannot remember a day when I was free from pain. I suffered from so-called rickets, and from diabetes, kidney trouble, rheumatism, neuralgia, lung trouble, and poor eyesight, from all of which I received only temporary relief under materia medica. One of Boston's best eye specialists told me after a long treatment that I would always have to wear glasses. Through divine Love as revealed in Christian Science the glasses have been laid aside and I now have perfect sight.
In March, 1908, I was taken with heart disease, and went from one good physician to another to find a cure, but to no avail. One physician said I must make up my mind that while I might live for years I would never be able to work at my trade again, that of a carpenter, as there was no known cure for my trouble,—organic heart disease. Christian Science was then brought to my notice, and I went to see a man who had been given up to die with the same disease but was healed in Christian Science. After a while I went to a practitioner's office, but turned away from the door through prejudice and returned home. On April 11, 1909, I was so ill that I did not expect to live through the night. The next morning I went to see the practitioner as a last resort, though still prejudiced, and within a short time I was healed.
While I am deeply grateful for this healing, it is nothing in comparison with the spiritual quickening received from the Bible and Science and Health. I am now learning to know God, "whom to know aright is Life eternal" (Science and Health, Pref., p. vii), and I will say to any one sick or in trouble that divine Love is able to meet the human need. I thank God and am grateful to our dear Leader for Christian Science. I am also grateful for the privilege of church-membership.—George L. Morrison, West Roxbury, Mass.
