"Thine, O Lord, is the greatness"

In reading another's experience as given in the Sentinel some time ago, the thought came to me how long I had remained silent respecting the many beautiful demonstrations I have had in Christian Science. Now I would speak of one experience which showed me that all who are working to establish God's kingdom on earth must be ready at an instant's notice to declare divine law, as we know not when the call to voice the truth will come to us.

One day, as I was going out of an office building, I heard behind me a heavy thud, as of a body striking. This was followed by loud cries, and excitement prevailed. For an instant, just an instant, my heart stood still, and then I was made aware that some one had fallen down an elevator well. I did not move or look to see the one who had fallen, as I could have done by taking a few steps, but remained quietly where I was, with the crowd rushing past me from all directions, and declared that there are no accidents in divine Mind, that God is ever-present Life and intelligence, and that in Him all is harmonious. These thoughts of Truth, and many more, came to me as I stood there, working to the best of my understanding of God and His law.

About fifty people had gathered, and finally a fireman pushed his way through the crowd, dragged a person out to the sidewalk, and lifted the seemingly limp and helpless body on his shoulder. Then for the first time I saw that the one injured was a boy about fifteen years of age. I did not know how serious the accident might have been to mortal sense, but I started on my way, holding to the thought that harmony and the allness of God were everywhere, so that when I reached my place of business the occurrence had almost been forgotten, though I did mention it to my husband.
