It is with a heart full of gratitude that I wish to tell publicly what Christian Science has done for me. Six years ago I was almost a physical wreck. From childhood I had suffered from bowel disorder, and always had to be careful what I ate. As I grew older the trouble became worse, and at the age of fifteen this, together with female trouble and incessant headache, made life almost unbearable. At that time I went to another city to attend an academy, as there was only a small school where I then lived. I had not been there more than three months when my eyes, which had always troubled me, gave out completely. I went to one who was considered the best oculist in the city, and was told that my eyes could be helped for a while, but it would be only a short time before I would be completely blind, that nothing could save my sight. I was also told that nothing but an operation would give relief from the female trouble, but I would not consent to have one performed.
I went home at once. To mortal sense I was becoming blind very fast, though the kind oculist had treated my eyes for about three weeks before telling me that they could not be helped. I could not bear any light without dark glasses, and the pain was so great I could not sleep nights. At this time Christian Science was recommended to my mother as a means of relief for me, but for a while I objected to it strongly. As I grew worse daily, however, and could not read a word, I consented to take treatment, saying it could not hurt me even if it did not help me. It was with a joyful and humble heart that I could say I was healed with four treatments, and not my eyes only, but the disorders previously named, also catarrh of long standing; and I am thankful to say that this healing has been permanent.
Since my healing I have never taken a drop of medicine, but have relied wholly on Christian Science, and I have had many beautiful demonstrations. Every day brings added proof of God's love and care, and words cannot express my thankfulness to Him, also my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the truth contained in Science and Health, which is indeed a "Key to the Scriptures."—Myra I. Henley, Outlook, Wash.
