I wish to express my gratitude for the blessings I have...

I wish to express my gratitude for the blessings I have received through the study of the Bible, and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I have found freedom from sickness and pain, while the consciousness that God is truly "a God at hand," and not "afar off," helps me to overcome material testimony, and gives the peace that passeth understanding.

I can tell of many discords overcome. At first a sense of great physical weakness oppressed me, and I had treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. I remember when I wrote asking for help, I got the reply, "Have started treatment," and it brought a flood of sunshine into thought. I fell asleep, and awoke about three hours later free from pain. The treatment was continued for a week, and I then wrote that I was quite well and would not require further help. I had to do a lot of mental work for myself, however. I found that fear was the origin of the discord, and one by one I had to meet and master its different phases, and know that "he that feareth is not made perfect," for divine Love being all, there is no room for fear in thought. Rest came with the remembrance that the eternal God is our refuge, "and underneath are the everlasting arms." "Love, joy, peace" are glorious guests, staying longer and ever longer, and making us know that they bring to us eternal life here and now.

Last year I was able to overcome a discordant condition without the aid of a practitioner. The succeeding cough was, however, very troublesome, and another student came to my help. In three days I was completely healed, and my gratitude for yet another proof of the presence of divine Love, which "always has met and always will meet every human need," as Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health (p. 494), is sincere. Financial difficulties have been overcome. Then my little son has been healed; in fact, I made my first Science demonstration on his behalf. He had been very poorly all the night, so I gave him treatment and we both fell asleep. He awoke better, and I continued treatment until dinner time. He slept most of the time, and when he awoke he said, "I am hungry, and I am quite well and want to get up and play." All could see he was in perfect health, and next morning he went to school as usual. All mothers will understand the joy and gratitude I feel at this proof that an understanding of Science and Health will give to us the power to overcome error (and sickness is error) for our dearest possessions, our children.
