My heart goes out in gratitude when I speak of Christian Science
My heart goes out in gratitude when I speak of Christian Science. My attention was first called to it by the healing of a cousin in Ottawa, III. His arm was poisoned and the doctors told him it would have to be amputated. He then gave up medical treatment and turned to Christian Science, with the result that his arm was entirely healed.
Even after hearing of this wonderful case of healing, I still had my doubts of Christian Science. While a student at the Illinois State Normal University I gradually went down in health, until I lost my mental faculties completely, and grew so bad that I had to be removed to a state hospital. Shortly afterward I was taken home, but before I had been there long I felt the old symptoms beginning to appear again. I then turned to Christian Science and sought help from a practitioner at once, with the result that in about two weeks I felt better than I ever had in my life. I could eat well and sleep well at night, and all the other old symptoms disappeared. Previous to my healing the doctors told me never to go back to school or study again, but I have since finished a course in elocution, passed a teacher's examination, enrolled in a Chicago law school, and hope in time to pass the bar examination. I did all this in addition to my work on the farm.
Through Christian Science I find all things are possible if we only abide in Truth and Love. I can sincerely say it is God who deserves all the honor and glory. All that I am and all that I hope to be, I owe to Christian Science.
