The one thing which Christian Science teaches and emphasizes is "the law of God," and its availability in this and every age. The Christian Scientist can say with the psalmist, "How love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day." This law of God understood and demonstrated brings harmony, for it is the law of Spirit, of Life, Truth, and Love. Paul said, "The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." This spiritual law which we find in the Word has nothing in common with suggestive therapeutics, or mental suggestion. The Bible states, "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." When Jesus was here, he spoke the word and they were healed.

Our critic states, "We cannot find in all the story of the apostolic church a single record of a meeting where the disciples discussed their ailments or talked about their cures;" yet they considered these things of sufficient consequence to record them carefully, and the gentleman has overlooked the fact that when John the Baptist sent a messenger asking, "Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?" Jesus answered, "Go ... and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, ... to the poor the gospel is preached." Likewise Christian Science should be judged by its fruits.
