Before hearing of Christian Science, in March, 1911, I had been ill for several years with what was pronounced a malignant growth. An operation was arranged, but when the doctors came they said my condition was too critical to venture on it, and they would try another method. This proved beneficial to a certain extent, but it left me so full of weakness and fear that I was not expected to live many months. Indeed, I had no desire for life if it was to mean only a repetition of the terrible sufferings, so I came to Christian Science just to learn more of heaven and to prepare for a future life.

After studying Science and Health for about a fornight, I was completely healed of sleeplessness, from which I had suffered for years. This convinced me there was something in Christian Science of which I did not know, and I determined to find out about it. I then began a thorough study of the Bible and the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and for nine months I gained daily in health and happiness.

In December I became very ill; the old symptoms returned, also an attack of congestion of the liver. I tried to meet the case myself with the slight knowledge I had gained, but fear made me unable to do so. I then asked for the help of a practitioner, and she pointed out the truth to me so clearly that I was much better when she left me, and was completely healed in about a week.
