I became interested in Christian Science through the healing...
I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of a member of our immediate family of a chronic bowel difficulty of twenty-five years' standing. I realized that there had been a healing, and as I could not shut my eyes to that fact, I started my search for the truth.
I had had no church for five years before that time, having found no satisfaction in the one which I had joined as a young girl. That is eight years ago, and since then I have had many beautiful experiences in Christian Science. Many discordant physical conditions, such as constant colds, sore throats, etc., have passed away. But best of all is the mental change, and the improvement in disposition; for in place of restlessness has come peace; in a degree at least, quick temper has given place to gentleness; impatience to patience, and gradually I see a change for the better as I more fully realize the inseparability of "perfect God and perfect man," as taught in the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 259).
After losing two babies at birth under materia medica, I had a little son born in Christian Science,—a beautiful child. No drugs were used, and it was a comparatively painless birth. I now know the difference between the spasmodic relief of anesthetics and the absolute peace of Christian Science in such an experience. Our boy is four years old, and we have had very few of the usual ailments of infancy to meet. I do not remember when his teeth came, nor do I remember losing one night's sleep.
