When I wish to overcome some difficulty, I often turn to the testimonies in the Sentinel or Journal, and I am sure to get the help I need. I therefore send my testimony, that it may in turn help some one else.

I had been in poor health for a number of years, and in the spring of 1900 I slipped on an icy step and fell, badly injuring my right wrist. Our children were in school and the housework depended on me, so in a few days I was using the hand, but it was soon in such a condition that I could do so no longer. The doctor said that rheumatism had set in and he could do nothing for it. I did my work until about the middle of the summer with my left hand, when that completely gave out, and I was so helpless that I could hardly feed myself. The trouble gradually spread all over me, so that I could not walk, and later it was very painful for me even to sit in a chair or lie on the bed, as I had to do most of the time for ten years. I tried different doctors but never got any permanent help.

In the summer of 1910 I went to visit my sisters, one of whom was studying Christian Science. Up to that time the most I had heard about the subject was antagonistic to it, and I was very much prejudiced against what I thought its teachings to be. As my sister talked to me, however, I began to wonder if I could be healed. Two months later she came to see me. I was so helpless and so anxious to get well, yet at the same time afraid to try Christian Science for fear it was not the teaching of the Bible. Nevertheless, before my sister went home I asked for help, which was kindly given. About two weeks later I began to read Science and Health, and the following day I was healed. I did some housework that day, and was soon doing it all, but I had to study and know the truth for myself. I am unable to express my thankfulness to God, and my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the spiritual interpretation of the Bible, which makes possible today the same work which Jesus did.
