A few years ago my wife was very ill, and after having medical treatment for about eighteen months without any permanent results, she was in such a condition that the physician advised an operation. After hesitating for a few days, I decided to consult another doctor, a reputable surgeon, and he also advised the operation.

A day or two later, my wife was sitting up to have her bedding changed, and being near a window, she saw a Christian Science practitioner pass by. Seeing her helpless condition, this lady asked what the trouble was. My wife backoned her to come into the house, and just afterward had a bad spell and became delirious, as she frequently did; but in the presence of the truth reflected by the practitioner, this attack seemed to have no power. The practitioner then presented Christian Science to her, and after it had been "explained somewhat, my wife felt better. The next day the practitioner gave her treatment, with the result that she got up out of bed every day thereafter, and stayed up. She has since been doing all her housework and taking entire care of our two small children. This was in April, 1912, and several times since then we have had help from the practitioner. On one occasion our elder boy showed every symptom of chicken-pox, but he was perfectly healed in three days. About two weeks later the baby was taken with the same ailment and was also quickly healed.

We all try to live the truth the best we know how. It has brought wonderful good tidings to our home; for where there was continuous discord, harmony now reigns, and we are hopeful, contented, and much happier.
