The Christian Science organization is strictly religious...
Weekly Mirror
The Christian Science organization is strictly religious, and perhaps more so than other organizations because it insists upon the whole garment of Christ instead of merely a part thereof. In other words, it not only follows the Master's command to "preach the gospel," but also to "heal the sick." Christian Science is founded strictly on the Bible, and it is readily admitted that its adherents make a closer and more faithful study of this "Book of books" than perhaps any other body of Christian people.
Physical healing is only a part of Christian Science practice, and not the most important part, although it is demanded as a proof of our belief, and it was required by the Master, who said, "These signs shall follow them that believe." The main function of Christian Science is to restore primitive Christianity and regenerate humanity, and experience has demonstrated that the healing of sin and sickness go hand in hand. "Jesus healed sickness and sin by one and the same metaphysical process." "But the mission of Christian Science now, as in the time of its earlier demonstration, is not primarily one of physical healing. Now, as then, signs and wonders are wrought in the metaphysical healing of physical disease; but these signs are only to demonstrate its divine origin,—to attest the reality of the higher mission of the Christ-power to take away the sins of the world" (Science and Health, pp. 210, 150).
