It is with a deep and growing sense of gratitude and love...
It is with a deep and growing sense of gratitude and love that I would speak of the healing and regeneration which Christian Science has brought to me. For eight years it has been my remedy for all ills, physical, mental, and moral, but only within the last year have I experienced the joy and peace which greater light has brought. Before this truth came to me, I was discontented, unhappy, and suffering from one physical ill after another, with a fear of God rather than love for Him, and holding a violent prejudice toward what I supposed Christian Science to be.
While suffering from nervous breakdown, and feeling too miserable and discouraged to interest myself in anything, some Christian Science literature was loaned me. As I read, the thought came that this was not what I had supposed Christian Science to be, so I got up from my couch, put on my things, and sought the Christian Science reading-room, where I poured out a torrent of questions and asked an explanation of all the adverse things I had heard. Answers were lovingly given, and they satisfied me. I took home a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and as I read day after day with increasing interest, it seemed so good and true and practical that it gave me courage. My physical condition improved proportionately, until after a few weeks' reading the most distressing features disappeared. I also gave up the use of glasses, which I had worn for a long time when reading. Since then all physical ailments have yielded to the application of the teaching of Christian Science. An injured ankle was healed in less than a week with no pain after the first ten minutes. Throat trouble, also some temperamental faults, have yielded to the power of good. I owe much to the patience and loving-kindness of those who have helped me to overcome this form of sin, for this freedom means more to me than all the other healing.
How good it is to know that in this teaching all may learn the truth about God and man, and so find a remedy for every ill known to mortals, if we patiently apply the Principle and take each step as it is unfolded to us. For this greatest of blessings, this priceless treasure, I am deeply thankful to God, and grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, whose purity and faithfulness have given us our text-book, wherein we may learn the truth which heals and makes free, as Jesus said it would.—E. Frieda Driscoll, Brookline, Mass.
