I have been receiving the blessings of Christian Science for three years, and I want to send a testimony in the hope that it may help some one to know of this blessed truth. I first heard of Christian Science when in a hospital, after an operation. I was told by a dear lady that she had been healed by Christian Science of the same trouble for which I had just been operated on. That seemed to arouse my curiosity; and to think I could have been healed without this dreaded operation!

I did not take up Christian Science then, but later a friend loaned me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. For years I had been a sufferer from backache, caused by an injury to the spine, the result of a fall from a horse. I had taken special treatment for relief, but was told I would never be well and would become paralyzed. I could never exert myself, or even do my own housework, but while reading Science and Health, I suddenly realized that the pain in my back had ceased. I had been living in a very unhappy state, with the constant fear of being helpless, but after trying to live as near to the teachings of Mrs. Eddy's book as I could, I began to feel happy and to know my true selfhood as God's perfect child.

Now, after only three years spent in reading this inspiring book, attending services regularly, loving my neighbor as myself, and praying daily to have more understanding, and more of that Mind in me "which was also in Christ Jesus," I find myself a well woman. My back is entirely healed, as well as numerous other ailments. My three children and myself have not taken any medicine for three years, and know of only one physician, God. I used to take great pride in having a fine, well-equipped medicine chest, and it seemed hard for me to give it up. I asked a dear friend how long one should study Christian Science before giving up drugs, and she said as soon as my faith became strong enough I would destroy them all. So one evening I gathered them together and threw them all away, and from that day to this we have not taken or needed any drugs.
