Seven years ago one of our little girls, aged two and a half years, was healed of a supposedly incurable disease of the kidneys by Christian Science treatment, and this led my husband and myself to take up the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. The transformation in our home during these seven years has indeed been wonderful. I had always been considered very delicate, and suffered more or less continually from a bowel difficulty. At the time of my introduction to Christian Science I was preparing for a severe surgical operation, which the doctors told me was necessary in order to prolong my life; but, thanks to Christian Science, the ailment disappeared and also all need for an operation, and I am strong and vigorous.

I am also very thankful for the help Christian Science affords to parents in the bringing up of children. Some time ago my youngest daughter showed the very alarming symptoms of a fever. The disease being prevalent in the neighborhood, I had been trying to protect my children from the belief in contagion, but I still seemed to dread the thought of a quarantine placard. The next day the child was very much worse and I could not resist the temptation to look at her throat. What I saw did not allay my fears, but it did spur me to a clearer and more active effort at right thinking, with the corresponding result that the third day the child was absolutely normal and was soon allowed to attend school.

A few weeks previous to this, on my visiting the school one day, the teacher called my attention to the fact that our boy was very deficient in history and arithmetic, and that she thought it would be best to let him drop back a class. That evening I spoke to the boy about it, and he felt very badly at the thought of dropping back; so I told him we must know that God is all intelligence, and that we as His children must reflect intelligence. With the promise that I would help him, he went to school the next morning, and when he came home in the evening he was the happiest boy imaginable. The teacher had told him that he had never done so well before, and wanted to know what had happened to him, and he has kept on getting good marks in his studies ever since. I am, indeed, grateful to God, also to Mrs. Eddy for making this truth so plain that even the little children can grasp and understand it.
