I am indeed grateful for the many blessings which have come to me through Christian Science. Since childhood I had suffered from abscesses and cramps, and when grown up other distressing conditions appeared. At the age of twenty-five, after all material remedies and medical treatment had failed and my physician had given me up, I turned for help to Christian Science, and with a little over a week's treatment I was perfectly well, and have remained so. Half a year later, what is called septic poison penetrated into a deep cut which I had on one finger, causing it to become very much swollen and discolored, while I experienced intense pain in the arm up to the shoulder. I treated myself in the truth, and a Christian Scientist helped me during that night. In the morning I was free from pain, and the finger healed in a normal way. Soon after, a good-sized nail pierced my foot, so that the blood came through the shoe. The pain was severe, and those standing by said that poisoning was liable to set in; but I went to my room and declared the truth, and after a quarter of an hour I felt no more pain, the foot ceased to bleed, and was soon healed.

Christian Science has been a great help to me in every way, so that it is impossible for me to tell of all the instances. On a certain evening two men came to the house where I was alone as a housekeeper, to return some silver belonging to the household. They made a sign to each other, and one told the other to close the door so that no one might enter. For a moment I was terror-stricken, and thought I would run out by the back door, but I then realized that God was my shield and my protection, and that no error could have any power over me. When the man who had locked the door came back, I very quietly told him that it would have to stay open, that he had no right to lock it. The men exchanged glances, and when I looked at them they cast their eyes to the ground. Then they laughed, counted the silver, and went away quietly.

For these benefits, as well as for the growing understanding of God which Christian Science brings to me, I am exceedingly grateful. I am grateful also to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for having taught us how to turn to God for help in the right way.
