It is with a sense of deep gratitude that I wish to tell of the blessings which I have experienced through Christian Science. When I turned to Christian Science I was afflicted with inflammation of the eyes, and medical treatment for a year and a half had failed to bring the relief for which I was longing. The condition seemed to be beyond the reach of materia medica, and the opinion of various physicians regarding the trouble pointed to a most unfavorable and alarming condition; but it was impossible for me to accept this thought, and my attention having been repeatedly called to Christian Science, I decided to investigate its teachings, and attended a service. This brought me a sense of great joy and certainty regarding my trust in God. I applied for treatment on the same evening, and rejoiced when told that it would be taken up.

At that time my left eye, with which I had been absolutely unable to see for quite a while, was inflamed and protuberant, and presented a hopeless appearance, while the right eye showed an inflamed condition and opacity. The treatment in Christian Science was attended by success from the start. The dancing specks which I had been seeing with my right eye disappeared at once, and the darkness of the left eye was changed into a misty light. The explanations of Christian Science seemed true to me, and eliminated from my thought the fear which I had entertained up to that time, so that I felt strong enough to do my part of the work. This necessitated a great deal of patience, but I did not lose hold of the truth, even when it seemed that I could not bear the rays of the sun—to me a most painful experience. In Isaiah we read: "He that believeth shall not make haste," and these words upheld me and caused me to stand fast for Truth's sake. To my great joy the mist before the left eye grew thinner from day to day, until one morning I was able to see a little. My eye was saved, and I experienced further improvement proportionately to my willingness to follow the behests of Christian Science. To my deepfelt joy it brought me a better understanding of the Bible, in particular of the teachings of Jesus, and freed me of everything which tried to impair the progress of my steadily improving vision. There was nothing now to impede the healing, and it soon was perfect. The first time I was again able to look straight forward, I felt as I had in times past—even the gray specks had disappeared, and I could see very well, although the physician had said that these specks were scars which would remain.

I am deeply grateful to divine Love for Christian Science, also to Mrs. Eddy, the Founder of this movement. It has brought me the light which we have in Christ, the truth about God and man. To this light alone do I owe the brightness which now surrounds me, and my earnest desire is to follow this light henceforward. I feel comforted to know that it will increase "unto the perfect day."
